The VAIL Amp easily turns any Amazon Echo Dot into an in-wall high-performance audio source.
The small fully contained amplified assembly firmly holds the Dot in an attractive wall dock that allows for accurate voice intelligibility and convenient light switch level access to the Dot’s surface controls.
Its high-power amplifier can be connected to up to two pairs of any in-ceiling, in-wall or cabinet speakers. The VAIL Amp becomes your in-wall volume control keypad, voice control, and streaming music source.

Does it need an Ethernet connection?
No, it does not require an Ethernet Connection. When docked the Echo Dot uses its normal Wi-Fi connection.
What is the Cat-5 jack for?
It is to make the connection between the VAIL Amp and the included Wall Plate easier.
What is the 4ohm/8ohm/off switch for?
When switched to Off it serves as a “Hard” off button. If one pair of speakers is connected to the speaker inputs the setting is left at the 8ohm position. If two pair of speakers are connected the switch should be set to the 4ohm setting.
All I have is a Cat-5 wire in the wall. Can I use that for power?
No. Cat-5 cable will not provide enough current for the VAIL Amp to function properly even if wires are run in parallel. If you wish to extend the cable beyond the included wire you must use 16-gauge or larger cable to assure proper operation.
How do I switch between Alexa and my local input?
The VAIL Amp does not require switching between the two. Both play at the same time. If you don’t want to hear both simply turn off or down the source you don’t wish to hear.
Is the VAIL Amp cover plate paintable?
Yes. Please be careful to not paint the rear of the plate so that it still snaps correctly onto the VAIL Amp.
Do I have to use the wall plate?
No. The VAIL Amp is designed for flexibility of installation. While the included wall plate can provide for a simple and clean installation many may wish to terminate power at another location using the included adapter jack. You may also wish to place the plate at a remote location in an equipment closet.
Do I have to use the wall plate as a connection for the Power Supply?
You do not have to use the wall plate. There is an included dongle accessory that can be attached to the end of the power cable that will plug directly into the included power supply.
How far can I run the power?
If you wish to extend the cable beyond the one included, we have verified that the VAIL Amp will operate correctly up to 300 feet when using 16-gauge cable or larger.
How many VAIL Amps can I run off one power supply?
The included Power Supply is intended to operate one VAIL Amp.
I want to connect the audio out from my TV to the Aux Audio Input but only have optical out on my TV.
There are two things you will need to connect the Audio out of your TV to the VAIL Audio Input on the Wall Plate if you have only optical audio out on your TV.
- The first is that you have to be able to set your TV to variable audio for the output. If your TV has such an option you will find it in your TV menu. This will allow your TV remote to control the volume.
- The second thing you will need is a Digital to Analog Audio Converter. This will convert the optical out to an analog signal that can be used by the VAIL Amp.
When I connect the audio out of my TV to the Aux Audio Input I can’t control the volume. It just plays loud.
The VAIL Amp itself does not control the volume level from the source plugged into the Aux Audio Input. You must control the volume from the source plugged into it. In the case of TVs your TV will need to have a variable audio output option. If your TV does have this option you will find it under the TV menu.

We would recommend that you keep all original packaging for the Happy Sound Guarantee period, returns without packaging will incur a 10% restocking fee.
2. Extended Returns Period
We know that our products are often project based, we know you might be buying it now for installation a few weeks down the line.
So we've extended our returns period from the industry standard 14 days to a 60 days!
You can return the system for any reason during this period.** Please keep the packaging :)
3. Extended Product Warranties
Electronics are usually only covered by a one year warranty.
But we don't think that's good enough considering you have to cut holes in your ceiling!

The majority of our orders go via Interlink, UK Mail, DPD. Some lower value items such as spare parts and remote controls go Royal Mail.
Free delivery is normally via next day courier as well. (We don't guarantee you'll receive free delivery items the next day, but 99% of the time you will!)
Once you place an order with us you will receive a notification e-mail outlining your order and details. We then get busy picking and carefully packing your item. Once we've got it all ready to go you'll receive another update to tell you it's been dispatched with a tracking number so you can keep an eye on it!

Any stock issues, or other delivery issues will always result in a quick phone call and e-mail to keep you updated. However we have carefully picked our products so we rarely have stock issues.
Working days are Monday to Friday. All orders on Friday will be shipped via next working day courier which means your item will arrive on the Monday.

ORDER CUT OFF TIMES
Most orders received before 2pm are processed and dispatched the same day provided the items are in stock with exception of items that have a custom stock status displaying a lead time.
After 2pm we will try our best to dispatch the same day provided our couriers have not been, however we cannot guarantee same day dispatch after 2pm.
If a product is delayed or out of stock we will contact you by telephone and/or e-mail in the earliest instance to discuss your order. We do our best to ensure that our stock levels are accurate, but on the odd occasion if the item you have purchased is out of stock we will contact you ASAP to discuss alternatives or to advise of the lead time.
